My wife and I both retired in 2014. We moved to Florida last July and into our new house in December. I started on this layout in January. My train room is 10'9" x 20'4". This is the trackplan:

This is a picture of the eastern turnback or the left side of the trackplan. I like the location of the buildings and will develop this scene.

These pictures are the western turnback or right side of the track plan. I have started scenery here. The road is black foamcore.

Joe,

Its good to see that you have a layout again.  You have made some significant progress, and it looks like you have more space than on your previous layout.  The track plan looks like it gives you plenty of vistas for some interesting photos too.

Congratulations.

Thanks Greg. This layout is significantly larger. The one I had in NY was 6'x9'. This one is 10'9"x20'4".

I paved the grade crossings on the west end of the layout. I used Woodland Scenics N scale foam roadbed.

I changed the track to eliminate the crossing and reversing sections on the left side of the layout. I also relocated a couple of spurs so they could all be switched while running in one direction.

I have designed an elevated level that will run from the left side of the layout to the middle peninsula. I hope to start construction on this soon.

I glued down the roads on the right side and located the sawmill, train shop and ice cream shop. I like the gateman shack where it is and still have to work on the church.

I paved the parking area nest to the ice cream shop.

Nice.  I use similar pavement to pave the area in front of one of my stations.

The station parking lot looks great. I think the brick was made by Lemax. I bought it years ago and saved it thinking I would find a use for it someday.

You are correct.  The brick paving is marketed by Lemax. I have bought several pieces of it, and several road size lengths over the years.  I have usually bought it at Christmas when the clearance sales are going on at Menards.

I added a 4'x7.5' second level and modified the lower level a little over the last few days. These pictures show the progress I have made. The buildings are just placed to give me some ideas for scenery. My wife suggested not expanding it as in the plan above. I will live with it like this for a while and see how I like it.

I modified the lower level by removing the passing siding. I took out the switch on the left of the middle of the E but left the one on the right making an industrial siding. This makes 5 sidings for a way freight to switch cars on the main level.

That's it for now.
