I've been working on the railroad. These are the latest WIP pictures. I put a floor into the tunnel so it looks better and added the road and crossing. The road isn't glued down yet but will be soon.20171031_130650.jpgImage Enlarger

I put a paved surface under the warehouse. It's not glued down yet.

This surface that will be under the freight station is glued and weighted down.

Last, I'm thinking of moving the town to this area. I would remove the switch and grain warehouse so the town would fit.

This is the town that would move to the lower level. The switch and industry would go here so I could switch a car on the upper level every now and then. I would build a low tree covered ridge here and maybe add a lake for visual interest. I've measured and the town would fit the lower section just as it is here. I'll think about this for a few days before I do anything.

That's it for now.

I wired some buildings yesterday.

I also wired the operating gateman to an MTH ITAD. It works fine and adds some fun animation to the layout. I tried to post the video here but I couldn't get it to work.

Lookin' good Joe. What is that you are using for turf? Looks like some sort of pre-flocked paper. Looks sharp.

Thanks Healy. It's Woodland Scenics Ready Grass. My layout uses 1" thick extruded styrofoam for the table top, covered by 7/16" thick carpet padding. The grass mat give a finished look right away and it's a good base for adding ground cover or any other features. The carpet padding doesn't make the FasTrack quiet but it reduces the running noise significantly. When I run trains at about 30 scale mph or less I hear the train sounds rather than the roar of the wheels on track.

Thanks Jim.

I moved the gateman to a new location. It was very difficult to see the action before. Now it's up front and easy to see. I installed cross bucks where the gateman was since they are very easy to see. This short video shows them in action.
