Williams by Bachmann 2014 catalog available

Williams 2014 catalogIf you weren’t already aware, Bachmann Trains released their 2014 Williams O-gauge catalog earlier this month.  Since my focus is almost entirely on Prewar trains these days, I admit I don’t pay close attention to new products coming from our current manufacturers.  But I’m sure some of you are very interested!  Click the catalog image to view it.

At the past couple York TCA meets I’ve been impressed with the fit and finish of the 4-6-0 sets (“Grayhound”, “Lakeshore Limited”, etc.) – the paint is so crisp and even that it almost resembles tinplate.  There are, of course, the standard locomotive and rolling stock offerings with a few new road names.  Here’s a brief run-down of other highlights I noted:  what did you find interesting in this year’s catalog?

  • Locomotives have the new improved True Blast Plus® sound system, and prices have jumped up accordingly
  • The GG-1 is offered only in Conrail colors?
  • Operating cars and accessories have been added from the former K-Line tooling
  • Flat cars are available with crate loads or bulkheads
  • Bachmann has rolled out their own E-Z Track® modular track system for O gauge
  • Traditional tinplate track is still offered in bulk packages
  • A new 6-amp reverse board with lockout will be offered for separate sale

Chris ("Cubbie") inherited a love of trains from his father. He grew up in the Chicago area — frequently riding the C&NW, CTA El and Amtrack — but spent summers in DL&W, D&H and Erie country (Northeastern PA). Chris collects, restores and runs Prewar toy trains on a 16' x 7-1/2' garage layout that is perpetually unfinished.
